Why are Fox News and their viewers so against constitutional rights for others?

By Admin • on November 8, 2009 • Filed under: Most Searched News

What’s wrong with Obama’s aides criticizing a so-called news channel? Isn’t that their constitutional right?
OOOOOoooooo!!! He’s stifling dissent…Umm, then why is Fox News still, well, dissenting?
Please tell me if he tries to shut down Fox News. Please don’t go pre-emptive on me, because we know Cons don’t exactly have a lot of luck with those types of predictions.

I dislike Fox news as much as the next person, but do you really think state censorship is a good idea?

  6. Shovel Ready says:

Obama already tried to shut Fox out, and it didn’t work, thanks to the brave action by other bureau chiefs. Try to keep up with the news.

  7. Danny says:

Conservatives are for the constitutional rights for all. I find it hilarious that Obama supporters are trying to stand on the constitution that Obama himself is trying to rip to shreds.

It’s just a little scary that he’s using the power of the office of the president to stifle the voice of his opposition. There’s your constitutional right to free speech as interpreted by Obama for you.

  8. good guy says:

good point, jesus, but i’m sure you are aware that since you disagree with the right, they will surely turn against you. Sadly, you have experienced this before.

  9. Often Intimidated Always a Dope says:

The thing that is wrong with Obama’s aides is that they are trying to force Fox News out of business, besides the fact they have about a thousand more important things to worry about.

  10. how_would_I_know says:

You totally don’t get it. We LOVE that he’s doing this.

If we had a mind control device we couldn’t have come up with a better thing for him to do to self-destruct than this.

  11. Obamanable Faux Man says:

When the Government starts dictating which media outlets are legit (namely those that agree with him), we as a constitutional republic have a problem.

The White House’s actions thus far concerning the “battle” speak louder than any spoken criticism from the right. The White House just reassured anyone w/ a few synapses firing that the angle is to silence, belittle or marginalize the opposition.

  12. Common Sense in Exile says:

Because the president is in POWER, and can actually stiffle dissent and censor. If a president refuses to talk with the media, unless it’s White House-approved media, that’s scary. What if Bush said the NY Times was unworthy to cover the White House…you’d be screaming.

  13. Joshua says:

You do know that obama tried to exclude Fox news from interviews involving some new czar, right?

In fact, the other news networks stood up for Fox by refusing to interview without all news networks present.

  14. Katie says:

Why is every other news station so set on making Obama seem like some sort of God?
EVERY news media is biased…as for TV stations…FOX is one of the ONLY conservative stations. To say they are unconstitutional however is ignorant of you. They are no such thing. They are simply balancing the scale against all other news stations.
If you, or anyone else, has that BIG of an issue with FOX for giving the OTHER opinion and the OTHER facts that other news stations don’t show you, then switch to CNN.

  15. TruthSeeker818 says:

So you`re in favor of govt censorship? You dont mind the govt telling us what we should and shouldnt hear? Freedom of the press is to protect the press from censorship by the govt, not the other way around.

  16. FREERIDER says:

Obam did not inform the public as he said he would about anything. Fox decided to help Obam out as he was busy golfing, and update Americans. Now they want to get paid for keeping Obama promise to the people. Obam refused to pay them and is currently trying to shut them up and get them out of the way so the criminal activities can continue.

  17. Librals our Reely Smorter says:

Golly, genius–maybe you’re possessed of the requisite wit to comprehend public officials and an elected “administration” singling out dissenters for attack and exclusion.

    Maybe.

  18. Viva Liberty! [the tao of viva] says:

I’m not against Constitutional rights for anyone. Obama shouldn’t be mouthing off against any networks, he has an important job to do. Telling American’s what news is and isn’t is reminiscent of a dictator.

  19. browns_86 says:

It depends which constitution you re talking about.
The one that was written by our forefathers?
Or is it the one that everyone thinks is outdated and if these old men were still alive they wouldn’t mean this or that or they actually meant this and not that.
    You know that crap?
What the hell if we fight with each other over everything and act like immature little kids then guess what?
We will all wake up in a brand new world we didn’t see coming because we were too busy being selfish and wonder to ourselves….what the hell happened.
    Oh wait guess what???
    Its right around the corner……SURPRISE!!!

By the way im tired of the race card being played.
The only one who notices race nowadays are the people on the losing side of the argument.
    Get over it.

  21. Irish Sean says:

If you look at other countries run by dictators (Iran and Venezuela to name two), they typically take control of media outlets that report the truth about their administration, thus silencing them.
That way, they can go about building their Socialist regime and only have the kool-aid drinkers from MSNBC reporting on how great they’re doing.

  22. SHO driva says:

When you bunch those who watch a certain station as against constitutional rights, your pushing the envelope for a flame war. I watch them and CNN, and they have a right to Free Speech. I have to say that if you think bunching people into a groups and blasting their beliefs, then you are no better then those who are racist. Saying all blacks like watermelon, or all Asians are bad drivers. There is definitely some black people that like watermelon, and some Asians can’t drive, but those don’t represent the whole race. You are saying if you watch Fox you are a CON and want to infringe on rights. I could say that all people who are Left are Communist, are some yes, but not all.

  23. Don B says:

answer: they think rights are only for THEM

why is it that Repubs are all whiney over Freedom of Press
    (when its Fox)
    Or
    Gun Rights
    when its THEM

    BUT

Most from your side of the aisle were railing against Professor Gates
and it was HIS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS they were violated?

Yes thats right the U S Constitution prohibits searches in private homes without a search warrant
    YET
Officer Crowley is defended when he is the VIOLATOR
    he had NO WARRANT
The Supreme Court has ruled that the ONLY exception is when an officer himself SEES a crime being committed (not a neighbor called)
    and
    On top of it
In Massachusetts, the law is plain to say that you CAN NOT be arrested for PUBLIC DISTEURBANCE on your own property.

I KNOW it isn’t because he is BLACK (or is it?)

    so

    you tell me

why didn’t the right wing defenders of the constitution
give a crap about Professor Gates’ rights being violated?

  24. MIKE HAWK says:

You obviously have no concept of what the 1st Amendment is all about.

  25. bojo8127 says:

Just what gives you the idea that Fox is against the constitutional rights of anyone ? it seems to me that Glenn Beck is preaching just the opposite, where the government is trying to stop and free thinking American from expressing his views.
Now, if he is so wrong, and the White House idiots say he’s wrong, why are they not using that private line, on the air to put forth their thoughts? Afraid of the tough questions that may require a truthful answer ?

  26. zepper0 says:

It’s called abuse of power. You have no clue as to Constitutional rights nor does Obama. He has specifically stated and written that he dislikes the Constitution. The Constitution specifically guarantees the rights imbued in individuals by their creator and gives the government basically two responsibilities: defense against threats both foreign and domestic and settling disputes among the States. Fox News has news shows and commentators, don’t confuse the two. If you don’t watch Fox News, you’re not getting ALL the news.

Oboma wants to control the Media and every part of your life…
Many other historic people did that..

    Adolf Hitler
    Stalin
    Lennon
And So many other colorful people

  28. Smart Kat says:

And you would have felt that same way if Bush and his crew said the same thing about MSNBC?

But I do think it is fair to point out that IF Bush DID say the same kinds of things about MSNBC, the Republicans would be saying something much like you are saying now.

  29. G J says:

Is this a “Fair and Balanced” question?

  30. evilcapitalist1971 says:

It’s the fact that they are only talking this way about the news organization which does not agree with them while also saying things (to paraphrase) about how they hope other media outlets don’t follow in FOX’s footsteps. To me it’s like saying if you don’t agree you are not legit and the rest of you better keep talking about how I give you tingles up your leg when I speak or we’ll come for you too.

  31. left side is the best side says:

    hey TOP CONTRIBUTOR:
“And you would have felt that same way if Bush and his crew said the same thing about MSNBC?” blah blah BLAH

so.. want to know a secret..

HE DID.. catch up on your reading.. BUSH DID.. just 2006 bush ONLY invited right wing radio hosts.. AND august 2007 AGAIN did it (even with the worst.. GLEN BECK!) MSNBC and other ’slanted’ liberals WERE NOT INVITED!

BUT you probably wont believe me..
being a republican and all..BUT! even on fox news (when interviewing one of bush’s administrative staff) admitted “well towards the end we didn’t really involve MSNBC”

  32. jmeister_1 says:

    1) Fox “News” is not a news organization
    2) Fox has an agenda and they are finally being outted for it
    3) “Fair and Balanced” is a red herring
    4) Yelling at your guests is not an interview
    5) Being blantantly biased is not being a journalist

It might not be that Fox News is against constitutional rights, it is that they have their own interpretation of those rights. They want them applied in a specific fashion. If other people and groups are doing as they are, then Fox needs to shut them down. Fox News has the option to show only what benefits them, which s not what a ‘news’ organization would do.

The why of you question would be simply answered as “those in charge of Fox News want it this way”.

As for the viewers, it is clear that there is a huge political divide in the US. This is their channel and they will defend it because they see it as their only voice in the media.

Its all really too bad that this has all happened. Personally, I see Fox News as that TV station in the Robocop movies.

  33. Max P says:

FOX is to news what pro-wrestling and nascar are to sports

  34. KellyJoRN says:

Nothing is wrong with it, I love it!!!! This guy is honestly so ignorant he doesn’t know any better than not to do it and it is crushing his ratings, the sad thing is he can see it is hurting his ratings and he is still bound and determined to focus attention on them, this is really better than prime time to watch him self destruct like this! And also, you should watch some type of news because Obama has already tried to silence FOX and anyone else who can get the truth about him out to the public, fortunately it didn’t go well for him!
